Our formatting experts will ensure the accurate layout of your dissertation/thesis according to a standard style guide (APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, Harvard, Oxford) and/or university style manual. APA Formatting Tips:

    • En Dash: The en dash is generally used between dates or page numbers (i.e. pp. 95–97) and can be either copied from this webpage or created on a PC by holding down Control+ “-” and Mac by holding down Option+ “-”
    • Capitalization of Titles in the Reference Section: Only capitalize the first word in a title, the first word after a colon, and proper nouns.
    • Capitalization outside of Titles: The easiest way to know when to capitalize a word in your document is to remember that names (of people, companies, websites, etc.) are capitalized and concepts are not. “Occam” is capitalized, because it is a proper name, but the word “razor” in “Occam’s razor” is not.
    • Numeral Usage—You generally want to spell out a number when it is nine or lower but use numerals when the number is 10 or higher. These rules hold true even when a mixture of numbers are included in a single sentence (i.e. “Mr. Murphy owns 15 cats and four dogs.”)
